 Hilary Devey The Leicestershire Business Awards in association with Business Link and the Leicestershire Chamber of Commerce, has sought to reward companies that are currently contributing to society. The awards contain categories that reward corporate CSR endeavours, entitled the ‘Contribution to the Community Award’ which is sponsored by Astra Zeneca and an ‘Investing in Leicestershire Award’ sponsored by Leicestershire County Council. Against stiff competition, the leaner, greener, outsourced supply chain solution providers Pall-Ex, have been rewarded as finalists in these important two categories for their continued commitment to the environment and community. Amongst other fundraising efforts, Pall-Ex founder Hilary Devey became a patron in 2007 of The Princess Royal Trust for Carers, and has to date donated £22,450 to the cause. Pall-Ex operates a distribution network which unifies hauliers across the country, for collections and deliveries of palletised freight from a centrally located transhipment hub. The formation of the network in 1996 has greatly reduced the number of lorries on the roads of the UK and Europe, and through economies of scale, has reduced costs and improved service standards for customers. The hub, strategically built close to the M1, M69, and M42, provides employment to around 200 staff, assisting the revival of a former mining community. The company will find out if they are winners at a ceremony at the grand De Montfort Hall in April.
