Pallet network buys CV Show trailer and Six Renault Trucks from Deker sister company Allports Truck Centre

Specialist trailer supplier Deker has signed a significant new order following last month’s CV Show at the NEC in Birmingham. Pall-Ex Logistics, has bought the Ecodek trailer shown on the Deker stand and also signed for a total of six 18-ton Renault Premium rigid trucks and one Renault Premium Tractor unit, which will be supplied by Deker sister company Allports Truck Centre. The deal also includes special arrangements on repair and maintenance, MOT replacement and national breakdown cover.

Pall-Ex Logistics is the Leicestershire-based in-house transport arm of pallet network Pall-Ex. The trailer and six trucks and trailer will all be delivered in Pall-Ex livery in June 2007 and will be used by Pall-Ex Logistics for collection and deliveries.

Pall-Ex has long been a customer of Deker Trailers and several network members already have Ecodek trailers where the aerodynamic design of the roof is proving to be very cost-effective, by reducing wind resistance and therefore cutting fuel consumption. The sloping roof of the trailer is already producing up to 12% savings on fuel costs for some customers in the UK and Europe.

The new Ecodek also features Deker’s popular flexible multi-deck construction. The curtain-sider is internally fitted with re-arrangeable decks for optimal loading without the need for stacking. This solution is proving very popular with hauliers and especially with pallet networks. The Deker design also incorporates a mesh upper deck providing excellent visibility for safe and easy loading and unloading, reducing potential freight damage and the risk of toppling.“We were very impressed by all the features on the Deker Trailer at the CV Show,” comments Hilary Devey, Managing Director of Pall-Ex. “It had everything we were looking for in terms of operational convenience and health and safety aspects. As we already have a good working relationship with Deker Trailers, it made sense to acquire the rigids and tractor units we needed from their sister company Allports Truck Centre. It was necessary for us to expand our fleet to handle rapidly growing business within Pall-Ex Logistics.”
