Argos, the leading high street and online retailer, has fitted its fleet of delivery vehicles with TruckProtect’s InstantFit NECK-IT anti-fuel theft units. With thousands of deliveries to make each week, the fleet of vehicles serving Argos stores don’t want any unforeseen hold-ups. So when it came to choosing a suitable device to protect the trucks from the growing problem of fuel theft Engineering Manager Geoff Mitchie researched the market carefully. The TruckProtect units prevent fuel theft without any operational delays and were the optimum solution,” he says. After testing the complete range of anti-siphon devices the one he chose was TruckProtect’s InstantFit NECK-IT unit. In Geoff’s opinion it was a small price to pay for peace of mind and his department has now fitted the units to over 200 new Argos distribution delivery vehicles and is considering a retro fit to the other 450. Geoff says that what he likes most about the InstantFit NECK-IT, apart from the fact that it works, is that it is easy to fit and enables full flow fuel filling without splashback or diesel spillage. Argos fitted the units to Mercedes and Scania vehicles, but the InstantFit NECK-IT is suitable for all makes and model of vehicle. In addition, its new LoPro version is ideal for a large number of vehicles operated by Continental hauliers that have slightly different fuel tank configurations. All the devices are easy to fit and fully transferable between vehicles To this list TruckProtect has also recently added its new SenderStop, a one-size-fits-all unit that protects the fuel tank’s sender unit from siphoning and thus, when used in conjunction with the InstantFit NECK-IT or LoPro, provides a first ever complete solution to the problem of fuel theft from commercial vehicles. With over 10,000 InstantFit NECK-IT units fitted to vehicles in 2006, Russell Fowler, CEO of TruckProtect, says that it has quickly become the market-leading solution to fuel theft. He is delighted that Argos has joined the long and growing list of hauliers fitting the devices to their vehicles and believes many others will soon follow their example. “We can tell people it works till we are blue in the face but invariably they only believe what they see for themselves in the course of their everyday operations,” he says. “We are happy to let potential customers have test units to try because we know the system works and are confident it is the only truly practical solution currently available to tackle and overcome the problem of fuel theft,” he adds.
