SupaTrak Customers Find Flexible Vehicle Tracking System Has Many Different Uses PDF Print E-mail
Thursday, 14 December 2006

ImageSupaTrak, the vehicle tracking system developed by CMS Global Technologies of Swindon, is increasingly proving the perfect solution for a whole range of companies wishing to control, monitor and protect their mobile assets.

Needing to know where their four maintenance vans are at any given moment is the main reason that VTS Tail Lifts of Hertford chose SupaTrak. The company is often called on to attend mobile breakdowns where speed of response is vital and says the tracking system helps identify the nearest unit to the problem.

Noting that SupaTrak is the most user friendly tracking system it has found, VTS says its mapping capability has been extremely useful at helping to visualise the situation on the ground and making the most effective use of the available resources. It uses the Post Code finder facility to pinpoint the exact location of the emergency and, when necessary, uses the map to talk drivers to the exact spot, which can sometimes be fairly remote. Apparently this approach is proving particularly useful during night time call outs.

An additional and unforeseen benefit of the SupaTrak system has come by way of avoiding London Congestion Charge penalties. VTS has ring-fenced the congestion charging zone and uses the system to see if a vehicle’s route to an unexpected call out will take it into the area. If so, the company makes sure it pays the Congestion Charge before the vehicle enters the zone and thus avoids any unnecessary penalty charges.

SupaTrak is clearly much more than just a tracking device and as many customers are now finding out its uses are only limited by their imagination. Low cost and user friendly, the system updates a vehicle’s position every 60 seconds, whilst the web browser UK mapping facility ensures all vehicles are visible at all times. SupaTrak also comes with a comprehensive reporting function that includes start/stop and historic ‘snail trail’ options, so users can see where their vehicles have been, when and at what speed.

Add in some of the other available options such as satellite navigation, telemetry recorders and full European mapping, together with the ability to link SupaTrak to a company’s existing collection devices and back office systems and you have a totally integrated, secure system capable of many additional operational tasks.

But most importantly, its simple, it works, can communicate with almost anything and is cost effective to use, with no ties to long-term contracts.
