Canny Crab Causes Crustacian Chaos for Courier Firm PDF Print E-mail
Friday, 17 November 2006

A Hull-based courier company part of the APC Overnight Network found themselves searching for a fugitive crab when it escaped from a box of fishing tackle.

The Lightning Transport Group Ltd’s warehouse staff had to remove numerous boxes and storage cabinets to find the two-inch crab.

Branch Manager, Kevin Woodless said: “You would not believe that a two inch crab would cause so much chaos. We had to find it because it would have died and caused an unpleasant smell in the warehouse.

The crafty crab was in a box of fishing tackle bait and decided to plan its escape and dash to freedom. It took us ages to find the crab and we placed it into a tub so that it could be returned to the customer. Our customers wondered what we were searching for and could not believe it was a just a little crab. They were very bemused and it made people laugh.”

Lightning Transport Ltd is part of the APC Overnight Network. The company  was established 18 years ago and has been part of APC Overnight since 1998 and employs 12 members of staff.

It handles around 650 items a day through a fleet of Sprinters, small and large vans, chilled vehicles and lorries
