Amtrak wins dabs.com contract PDF Print E-mail

Amtrak Express Parcels has won a multi-million pound contact with dabs.com, one on the UK's leading internet retailers of IT and technology products.  dabs.com is part of British Telecommunications plc (BT) and sells over 15,000 products from the world's leading manufacturers such as Sony, Hewlett Packard, Toshiba and Microsoft.  With 1.6 million dabs.com registered customers, Amtrak will be providing overnight delivery of orders across the country.

dabs.com has returned to Amtrak following a number of years with other carriers.  Amtrak won back the contract because of price competitiveness, standards of service and the wide range of service options on offer.  In addition, dabs.com was impressed with Amtrak's online track and trace capability that integrates seamlessly with dabs.com sales order systems.  

"We have a good track record of working with Amtrak in the past and with their help, we expect to improve the customer's overall experience of dealing with dabs.com through offering greater delivery reliability and a wider choice of services" says Dianne Dillon, Operations Director of dabs.com. "We process over 5000 orders a day and already our overall standard of customer service has benefited from our ability to access the real time traceability of deliveries made possible by Amtrak's web integration technology".

Through Amtrak, dabs.com is able to offer its customers a greater choice of services including evening and Saturday deliveries.  Initial shipments are totalling 2500 per night and dabs.com is also taking advantage of Amtrak's online collections service making it very easy for customers to return goods.
