CitySprint has been shortlisted for the ‘Environment Award’ at the 2009 Motor Transport Awards.
The Motor Transport Awards celebrate the achievements of the industry and recognise innovation, outstanding service, efficiency and quality. For the ‘Environment Award’ judges were looking for companies that have evaluated in detail all aspects of their operation and improved the environmental impact of their entire business, not just the running of their fleet. CitySprint was clearly able to demonstrate its ability to meet the criteria for the 2009 ‘Environment Award’ by providing judges with details of the comprehensive environmental programme that it has implemented both internally and externally in order to minimise the impact its business practices have on the environment. Whilst CitySprint’s internal environmental programme covers a number of actrivities such as recycling, use of environmentally friendly vehicles, utilisation of its national fleet through GPS technology and thorough driver training to encourage fuel efficient driving, what makes CitySprint stand out from others in the industry is the fact that it has taken its environmental programme one step further by developing an external programme which offers clients the opportunity to assess, reduce and even offset their own carbon footprint when using CitySprint’s courier services. CitySprint’s environmental programme is continually reviewed and updated and the programme has been accredited with the internationally recognised ISO14001:2004 as well as winning a number of industry environmental awards. The shortlist and winners of the Motor Transport Awards are chosen by an independent panel of experts drawn from the industry - they are chosen because they know the difference between what is common in the industry and what is truly outstanding and deserves to be rewarded. Motor Transport editor Justin Stanton says: “Congratulations to all those who have made the shortlists: doing so is almost a victory in itself, considering there were 199 entries of high quality that took three days to judge!” The award winners will be announced at the official awards ceremony on Wednesday 1st July at the Grosvenor House Hotel in London.
