Hilary Devey, founder, owner and CEO of the UK’s number one palletised freight collection and delivery network, Pall-Ex, has been named Vitalise Businesswoman of the Year 2008.

Hilary collected the prestigious award at the Birmingham Metropole Hotel on 3 October, following a closely fought contest between six highly-successful businesswomen.

It is the second time that Hilary has received the honour, which recognises female entrepreneurial talent and the contribution that they make towards the economy, after she picked up the accolade back in 2004.

The judging panel was impressed by the way that Hilary sacrificed her job, and sold her house and car to raise £112,000 to realise Pall-Ex, and made particular reference to the continued development and success of the business.

Commenting on her success, Hilary said:

“I’m thrilled to have won this award for the second time. I was up against five other experienced and inspiring businesswomen, which makes this even more of an honour.

“I spotted an opportunity in the logistics market and I worked hard to get Pall-Ex off the ground. This award is recognition of a real team effort that has turned Pall-Ex into the success it is today.”

Aside from her role at Pall-Ex, Hilary is an avid supporter of many charities, including acting as a patron for The Princess Royal Trust for Carers. Hilary also featured on a recent edition of Channel 4’s popular series, The Secret Millionaire, which saw her give financial support to several struggling community projects in Rochdale.
